A new timber community hub, bringing library, kindergarten and health services together
Project Overview
The Glenroy Community Hub is a new timber community facility in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
Located on the former Glenroy Primary School site, it provides an inspiring new home for the Glenroy Library and Glenroy Memorial Kindergarten, while offering maternal and child health, community health, neighbourhood learning, and childcare services.
Scope of Work
TTW’s scope of work for this project included:
- The development of bespoke thermal break solutions in collaboration with our façade & structural team.
- To maintain energy efficiency, we specified structural thermal breaks, insulated connections that carry structural loads while minimising heat loss.
- Contributed to the Living Building Challenge Beauty Petal category by designing the exposed timber roof structure in the library, with detailing inspired by reciprocal patterns found in nature to uplift the human experience.
- Our civil team delivered a stormwater management system exceeding best-practice environmental guidelines, addressing pre-existing site risks including overland flow paths and flooding.
