The largest underground station on Sydney Metro, engineered beneath North Sydney

Project Overview

Victoria Cross Station gives commuters a faster, more reliable way to move between the North Shore and the Sydney CBD, forming a key part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest line. As the largest underground structure built for Sydney Metro, Australia’s largest public transport project, the excavated structure spans 265 metres in length, 19 metres in height and 26 metres in width, an engineering feat delivered beneath one of Sydney’s busiest urban centres, for the people who’ll rely on it every day.

Scope of Work

TTW delivered Structural and Applied Science Engineering services for the station, including:

  • Structural design of the reinforced concrete cavern lining
  • Independent peer review
  • Contribution to key structural design elements across the station
