Project Overview
The West Gate Tunnel Project gives Melbourne’s west a new, more reliable way to connect with the city and the Port of Melbourne. A $10 billion alternative to the West Gate Bridge, delivering twin tunnels, elevated roadways and associated bridge and interchange works. It’s infrastructure built to ease the daily journey for the communities and industries that depend on this connection.
Scope of Work
TTW delivered Structural, Construction Engineering, Façade and Digital Engineering services for the vent structures:
- Simplified complex geometry for easier cladding fabrication
- Delivered a lightweight, sustainable design without compromising the architectural intent
- Provided fast, accurate responses to design modifications
- Optimised materials and spans for each panel’s size, wind loads and location
- Standardised extrusions, connections and details for smoother installation and reduced waste
