Indonesia’s third IKEA store built to serve the community for years
Project Overview
IKEA KBP gives the community a new destination to shop and gather, as Indonesia’s third new-build IKEA store. Spanning a 5 Hectares site with 55,000m² of floor area across three above-grade retail storeys and a semi-basement parking level, the store combines high-quality exposed concrete floors with a well-lit, open design that shapes an inviting experience for everyone who visits. Achieving that finish took careful, hands-on engineering, our team took a proactive role in guiding the client and contractor through the shrinkage crack control measures needed to deliver a durable, attractive result, from reinforcement detailing through to curing and protection from wind and sun.
Scope of Work
TTW delivered Structural and Civil Engineering services, including:
- Structural design
- Stormwater drainage and pavement design
- Earthworks and retaining
- Perimeter frames designed for required strength and seismic ductility, with construction sequencing closely specified for temporary stability without compromising shrinkage control
- Proactive specification and guidance on shrinkage crack control for exposed concrete floors, including reinforcement content, continuous curing, concrete mix design, and protection from wind and sun
