Our Opportunity: Legal & Contracts Counsel

We are seeking a Legal & Contracts Counsel to join our team.

Reporting to the Legal & Contracts Manager, and working across multiple jurisdictions, this role involves the preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts, as well as the handling claims and disputes.

The role will be critical in optimising contract performance, protecting the company’s financial interests and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Review and draft proposed contractual terms and departures, and perform risk assessments to minimise risk to the business in construction and engineering agreements.
  • Provide guidance and advice to senior managers within the business on contracts and risk management.
  • Act as the main point of contact with external stakeholders during contract negotiations.
  • Liaise and / or instruct external legal advisors as requested by the Legal and Contracts Manager.
  • Dealing with all legal matters including litigation, property, and procurement as requested by the Legal & Contracts Manager.
  • Ensure contract activities are conducted in compliance with TTW policy, legislation, statutory regulations and ethical standards.
  • Provide guidance and training to project managers and other employees in contract practices and procedures.
  • Assist with legal issues arising during contract performance, including claims.
  • Negotiate settlements and resolve disputes to minimise financial and legal risks in consultation with the Legal and Contracts Manager.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards.
  • Provide ad hoc advice on corporate law, IP, privacy, insurance, and ESG law and policy.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong understanding of contract and construction law.
  • At least 5 years’ solid experience in a similar role gained inhouse or in private practice with exposure to major projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks and construction/engineering contract forms.
  • Previous experience working in the professional consulting or insurance industries would be considered advantageous but is not essential.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in delivering legal support through the entire project life cycle.
  • Ability to deal with all levels of the organisation comfortable and confidently.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
