An award-winning underpass, connecting Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin basin loop
Project Overview
Bowen Place Crossing gives Canberra’s community a safer, more comfortable way to complete the popular Lake Burley Griffin basin loop, a new pedestrian and cyclist underpass connecting two new bridges and a 300m path from Kings Avenue Bridge to the existing path network. Designed with the area’s heritage in mind, the crossing flows with its natural surroundings rather than detracting from them, becoming an award-winning addition to a precinct that includes the National Gallery of Australia and Kings Avenue Bridge, giving locals and visitors alike a route worth taking.
Scope of Work
TTW delivered Structural and Construction Engineering services for the crossing including:
- Precast concrete
- Off-form concrete
- Exposed aggregate paths
- Profiled steel wall
