A complex, curved wave roof, engineered into Sydney’s new cruise terminal
Project Overview
The White Bay International Cruise Terminal gives Sydney Harbour a vibrant new gateway for travellers, supporting Australia’s rapidly expanding leisure cruise industry as an active part of the city’s maritime identity. The terminal’s distinctive wave-form roof, designed by JPW, oscillates continuously along the length of the building, a striking architectural statement that required careful engineering to bring safely and efficiently to life.
Scope of Work
TTW delivered Structural and Civil Engineering services including:
- Structural roof geometry developed in close collaboration with JPW, using advanced software and detailed computational analysis to resolve complex design challenges
- Overland flow routing around the new terminal
- Stormwater treatment, including pavement assessments
- Design of the new Port Access Road between White Bay
- Design of White Bay Power Station internal access roads, from the terminal to James Craig Road
